Production of roof structure

The roof is one of the most important parts of the building, which protects the inside from environmental factors and atmospheric effects, has a direct influence on the durability of the house, and is an integral part of overall aesthetic appearance of the building. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that all installation work is carried out in a proper and professional manner. The team of Simpeksa UAB provide professional installation services of roof structures and other wooden structures, including construction of a frame house with full interior and exterior finish.

General requirements for roofs according to STR 2.05.02:200 CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS. ROOFS.

  • The roof must be resistant to atmospheric effects [4.9] and effects of operational factors. The roof must be designed, installed and used so that it meets all essential requirements for buildings.
  • Roof structure must meet the requirements of fire safety normative documents.
  • Roof structure must be such as to prevent the formation of icicles at the cornices, snow sliding off the roof, and to ensure that it is completely safe to maintain and repair the roof.
  • Construction materials used for installation of the roof must not pollute the environment.
  • Sound insulation of roof structure must meet the requirements of normative documents of the Republic of Lithuania.
  • The roof must be installed so that the interior of the building and roof structures under damp proofing layers are protected against rain, snow and other environmental factors.
  • The slope of the roof must be steep enough for rainwater to drain. Construction materials suited for particular slope must be used for damp proofing layers.
  • Water drainage systems must be installed so that the flowing rainwater does not damage the building structures, roads, pavements, adjacent buildings and the environment.
  • Roof thermal insulation properties must meet the requirements of regulations [4.3] and [4.6].
  • Only properly certified construction materials may be used for roof structures.
  • Construction materials which may reduce the durability of each other through interaction (chemical reaction, galvanic corrosion, thermal effects, different deformations due to ageing, etc.) during installation or use of a roof must not be used for roof structures.
  • The roof must be chemically resistant to environmental effects.

When designing and installing pitched roof structures, the requirements for pitched roof structures must be taken into account and the use of the following roof layers must be assessed:

  1. Vapour insulating layer;
  2. Thermal insulating layer;
  3. Windproofing layer;
  4. Ventilation air layer;
  5. Damp proofing layer;
  6. Pitched roof underlay;
  7. Pitched roofing.

Depending on roof structures and construction materials used, all layers referred to in points 1 to 7 may be installed as well as other necessary layers not mentioned above may be added. Combinations of separate layers may also be installed.

According to the requirements, moisture content of wooden construction materials used for installation of pitched roofs must be not higher than 20% and not lower than 8%.
